AMERICAN TEAMS WRAP UP PLAY AT 2017 ITF YOUNG SENIORS WORLD TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Six American teams took part in the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships last week in Cape Town, South Africa. The 24 players were competing for six Cups in the 35- to 45-and-over equivalent of tennis’ Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions.

Julie Cass of Austin and her team finished third in the Margaret Court Cup (Women’s 45 & over), while Julie Thu of West Lake Hills and her team finished fourth in the Suzanne Lenglen Cup (Women’s 35 & over).

The top U.S. teams were the Men’s 45 & Over team, which finished sixth in the Dubler Cup, and the Women’s 45 & Over team, which finished third for the Margaret Cup. The ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships is the highest-ranked event on the ITF Seniors Circuit for male and female players in the age categories of 35-45.

Following the ITF Young Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held March 25 - April 1.
