AUSTIN, TX — A man violating a previous trespass notice by arriving at the home where his children lived died after being tased by police on Tuesday, officials confirmed.
The incident occurred along the 800 block of West Slaughter Lane at around 4 p.m., police said in a press advisory. The caller reported her children's father was acting strangely while refusing to leave, police added.
Police made contact with the man who they later said had been issued a criminal trespass notice meant to dissuade him from going to the home for one year or face arrest. According to the police account, the 41-year-old Hispanic man resisted officers' efforts to detain him, prompting the use of a Taser.

The man had a "medical emergency" after the Taser was deployed, police said, prompting medics to apply life-saving measures that ultimately proved unsuccessful. The man died a short time later after being taken to a hospital, police said.
The two officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative duty, according to police who noted the step is customary when there is an in-custody death. The officers involved were not identified by name, but were described as being in the force for two and four years.
