Missing Austin Girl Spotted, But Search Continues

Someone spotted Sierra Symone Brown, 16, the day after she went missing without realizing she was the missing teenager, police said.

AUSTIN, TX — A teen previously reported missing this week was spotted by a resident on Wednesday, police said, but the search for the girl continues.

Sierra Symone Brown, 16, has been missing since Monday, when she was last seen walking away from a Staybridge Suites hotel at 1611 Airport Commerce Dr., in Central Austin at around 1:30 p.m., as police previously advised. Some three hours later, police said on Wednesday, someone spotted the girl walking along Bolm Road towards Airport Boulevard the day after she was reported missing at around 4:30 p.m. but didn't realize she was the girl was the missing juvenile.

Subsequently becoming aware of social media posts alerting to the missing teen, the resident called police to alert them of the sighting. The caller described the same clothing the girl was wearing when she went missing on Monday, police said.

Police offered a description of the girl in the hopes someone might see her and alert as to her whereabouts, noting that unspecified medical conditions heighten concern over her welfare. She is described as standing at five feet, seven inches in height and weighing 170 pounds. She has shoulder-length black hair, brown eyes and braces on her teeth, and was last seen wearing a red windbreaker, gray tights and tan-colored ankle boots.
