Here are the top stories today in Austin:

1) Thousands gathered at the Capitol for the Texas Rally for Life on Saturday. The annual rally unites community members, faith leaders and elected officials whose mission is to "protect human life from conception through natural death." CBS Austin reports that the event has been held annually for 30 years, but this is the first time since Roe v. Wade was overturned. Learn more about yesterday's protest here at CBS Austin.

2) Local activist organization Austin Justice Coalition hosted a rally at Huston-Tillotson University on Saturday evening. The coalition tells KVUE that in the wake of the murder of Tyre Nichols, "it's a chance for Austinites to voice their anger over police brutality, a place to uplift the responding efforts in Memphis and to remember previous victims of police brutality in Austin." Organizers say they are fighting for "accountability and systemic police reform." KVUE has more on this story here.

3) A bus driver who rose through the ranks is the new president and CEO at Capital Metro. Capital Metro's Board of Directors made Dorothy "Dottie" Watkins' appointment official on Monday. KUT reports: "Dorothy 'Dottie" Watkins started driving buses in 1994 when she was 19 years old. Now 48, Watkins has served as interim president and CEO of CapMetro since May." KUT has more on this story here.

4) More rain and a cool front are in the forecast today. KXAN meteorologists report that "scattered showers and thunderstorms look like a good bet from mid-morning through at least early afternoon." Those of us who live east of I-35 could also see strong or isolated severe storms. Neighbors: stay safe, stay warm and stay dry! KXAN has the full weather forecast here.
