Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) Violating local water restrictions could result in steep fines. Many Central Texas communities have enacted water restrictions to aid in conservation efforts. Austin's "Straight 1 drought response" went into effect on June 6 and limits the number of hours automatic irrigation systems can be run at both residential and commercial properties. Under Stage 1, first-time violators will be fined between $50 and $200. For a second violation, that fine increases to a $75 to $300 range. KXAN has more on this story here.

2) Oracle layoffs impact the Austin campus. On Tuesday, Oracle Corporation announced nationwide layoffs, with at least a dozen local Austin employees being impacted. The Austin Business Journal reports that team members in marketing and customer experience were reportedly the most effected. Check out the full story here at KVUE.

3) Austin Community College's approved budget includes employee raises. The budget, approved Monday, states that all ACC employees are set to receive a raise next fiscal year. According to the Statesman: "The 5 percent raise is part of the college's annual budget, which totals $467 million. Employees could also receive $5,000 or a $20 minimum wage instead of the 5 percent raise, depending on which option provides the greatest increase. Raises will be "capped at $10,000 for the highest earners." The budget also states that full-time employees earning less than $150,000 will receive a one-time payment of $500 to $1,000. The greatest amount will go to the lowest paid workers. The Austin American-Statesman has more on this story here.

4) It's almost time to say goodbye to another legendary Austin business — Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds on South Congress Avenue. After 38 years in Austin, the iconic costume shop, Lucy in Disguise, will close at the end of the year. The store will be moving to a "purchase only" model in the coming months.
