Parmer Lane Bridge Work To Spark Lane Closures
Bridge conversion into a diverging diamond intersection will prompt long-term lane closures during work expected to last until May.
AUSTIN, TX — Work crews are in the process of converting the Parmer Lane bridge into a diverging diamond intersection, officials said Monday, prompting some long-term lane closures starting this week.
Starting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, weather permitting, westbound traffic on the Parmer Lane bridge will be reduced by one lane as crews remove sidewalks and reconstruct guard rails and bridge beams, Texas Department of Transportation officials said. During this construction — which is expected to last until May — there will be two westbound through lanes and one left-turn lane, officials added.
Once work has been completed on the westbound side of the bridge, crews will shift to the eastbound side of the Parmer Lane bridge to perform a similar closure, transportation officials added.
