Police Seek Suspect In Robbery Near UT-Austin
Campus police were alerted early Sunday that a Shell gas station employee was physically assaulted before the place was robbed.
AUSTIN, TX — Police are in search of a suspect they accuse of physically assaulting a convenience store clerk before robbing the business near the University of Texas at Austin early Sunday.
The incident was reported at 1:25 a.m. at the Shell gas station on 2400 Rio Grande St., UT-Austin police said in a press advisory. The Austin Police Department alerted campus police to the incident, saying the worker was assaulted before items were taken from the store.
The victim described the suspect as a possibly intoxicated black man who was wearing no shirts with green pants. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on 24th Street, police said.

Police continue to investigate the incident, and ask anyone seeing the suspect to call 9-1-1.
In light of the incident, police pointed to a link to Student Emergency Services containing resources for those victimized by crime. Additionally, the Victims Advocate Network supports UT employees, students and visitors who have been the victim of a crime.
