Possible Tornado Touches Down East Of Austin
Reports indicate possible tornado made landing in Fayette County, located some 68 miles from capital city, amid severe weather forecast.
FAYETTE COUNTY, TX — Fayette County and weather officials officials on Friday reported a possible tornado touched down some 6 miles east of Flatonia, just an hour's drive from Austin.
National Weather Service and county officials said the tornado likely touched down at around 8:30 a.m. between the towns of Muldoon and Schulenberg, near the center of the county. The storm then moved in a northeast direction toward Fayettte Regional Air Center, west of La Grange and north of Texas 71, officials added.
The development comes after the NWS warned of potentially severe storms in Central Texas through Friday night. A tornado warning subsequently was issued for parts of central and northern Fayette County.

Some reported damage to industrial businesses near the airport along Texas 71 after the suspected tornado touched down, according to reports.
