RM 2244 Bee Cave Road Improvements Project Completion Touted
Roadway was widened to include a continuous center-turn lane, new shoulders and pedestrian accommodations at cost of $29 million.

AUSTIN, TX — Officials on Friday conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the RM 2244 Bee Cave Road Improvements project that involved widening of the roadway.
Representatives from the Texas Department of Transportation were joined by officials from Travis County, the City of West Lake Hills and the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization to cut the ribbon on the road work. The roadway was widened to include a continuous center-turn lane, new shoulders and pedestrian accommodations through the project limits.
“We’re averaging about 4,000 more vehicles on Bee Cave Road per day compared to three years ago when we broke ground on this project,” TxDOT Austin District Engineer Tucker Ferguson said during the ceremony. “This project enhances both safety and mobility for area travelers as the population in Travis County continues to grow.”

Travis County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty noted the project was the culmination of a years-long project: “Three years ago, our agencies came together to create a better experience for drivers through the area,” he said. “This project demonstrates the value of community partnerships, patience for the processes, and the benefits of working together.”
Westlake Hills Mayor Linda Anthony added her thoughts: “We have a road through our community that is gorgeous,” she said “We have sidewalks and bike lanes. I’m so heartened to see people use them. I wasn’t sure they would use them but they are.”
