🌱 Runoff Elections Leave Many Uneasy + Mac & Cheese Festival 🧀

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Austin.

(Patch Media)

Good morning, everybody. I hope you're all bundled up and staying warm! I'm here with your fresh copy of the Austin Daily, filled with all the local information you need to know right now.

Cozy up while we cover:

  • The upcoming runoff elections leave many locals uneasy.
  • Two Austinites run 100 miles to raise awareness for the houseless community.
  • Mac & Cheese Festival? Sign me up!

But first, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 59 Low: 45.

Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) Local advocates are concerned over voter turnout in the upcoming runoff elections. KUT reports: "None of the candidates in the races for mayor and three City Council seats received more than 50% of the total votes on Tuesday. Because no one clinched the majority, the top two candidates in each competition will head to a runoff election in December, as required by state law." This means registered Austinites would have to return to the polls next month – but many locals have been vocal about a new voting system. Head to KUT for more on this story.

2) Austin Police are investigating a Sunday afternoon stabbing at the Riverside HEB. Police reported that a suspect was taken into custody, and the victim was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center and is in stable condition. CBS Austin has more on this developing story.

3) Longhorn football final score: TCU 17, Texas 10. The Statesman has a full recap of the game – check it out.

4) Two locals ran 100 miles to raise awareness and money for a nonprofit focused on providing affordable housing for the unhoused population. KVUE reports: "At midnight on Nov. 12, Michael Sabrin and Charles Wagner will tie their shoelaces at the entrance of the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail. They're running 100 miles in 24 hours with the hope of raising $100,000 for Finding Home ATX." Incredible! KVUE has more on this initiative here.

5) The Austin Powwow and American Indian Heritage Festival celebrates its 29th year. The Statesman had a front row seat out at the Travis County Expo Center on Saturday, Nov. 12 – check out the photos of the rich, cultural celebration.
