Self-care and skincare while we stay at home
To help cope with the stress, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends self-care habits and making time to unwind
The outbreak of COVID-19 has proven to be stressful for many across our country and across the globe. To help cope with the stress, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends self-care habits and making time to unwind.
According to Dr. Tyler Hollmig, director of dermatologic surgery and laser and cosmetic dermatology at Ascension Texas, skin care is a great addition to your self-care routine and can help people feel healthy and in control.
While stuck at home, Dr. Hollmig suggests adopting a daily skincare routine, including staying hydrated, cleansing the skin, utilizing serums and moisturizers and always applying sunscreen when going outside.
“We are living in strange times,” said Dr. Hollmig. “Many resources that we take for granted are unavailable, including access to professional skincare.”
To address this gap, Dr. Hollmig is providing virtual guidance on how to keep skin healthy and beautiful during the COVID-19 crisis. He offers virtual visits, which include a real-time evaluation and discussion of skin concerns and goals. Each patient receives personalized skincare recommendations, including a curated list of products, as well as prescription medications when indicated.
“Our mission is to provide patients with personalized, high-quality guidance on how to improve their skin health and beauty from the safety of their own home,” said Hollmig.
