Snow Flurries Descend On Austin, Texas Hill Country
As temperatures dipped into the low 30s overnight, residents were treated to a rare snowfall.

AUSTIN, TX — They're calling it (perhaps ironically) the Great Snow Blizzard of 2020. As temperatures dipped into the low 30s late Wednesday, unexpected snow flurries descended upon Austin and across the Hill Country to the delight of residents.
It all started at around 10:30 p.m., and lasted for a couple of hours. Actual snow began to fall on the region after a two-day cold snap after what amounted to spring-like weather on Sunday with temperatures that approached 80 degrees.
This is Texas after all. It's the state where they say that if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it'll change. That aphorism was illustrated in dramatic fashion for those of us who were still awake when the snow fell.

For those two brief hours, it was glorious and exciting. But don't expect a repeat anytime soon. Thursday's high was expected to reach 53 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, with a low of 35 degrees by nightfall.

And temperatures are expected to climb further this weekend, with sunny skies and a high of 68 degrees being forecast for Friday and a tolerably chilly low of 40 degrees by nighttime. Saturday calls for more sunny skies with a high near 70 degrees with a nighttime low of 55 degrees, and Sunday is expected to bring a high of 74 degrees with the same low temperature reading at night.
Because this is Texas where if you don't like the weather, just wait five....well, you know the rest.
