Strong Chance Of Rain Could Dampen Halloween In Austin Area
There's a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms mainly after 1 p.m., with a lingering chance of 50 percent by nightfall on Oct. 31.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Mother Nature isn't done with Austin yet. After historic floods two weeks ago that led to six days of a boil-water notice, there's a good chance of thunderstorms — a climactic trick, not a treat — by Halloween.
Some of those storms could be severe, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are likely on Wednesday, Oct. 31, mainly after 1 p.m. Conditions will be cloudy with a high near 80 degrees.
Here's the rub: The chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

By Wednesday night, the chance of precipitation falls to 50 percent with showers and thunderstorms likely. It will be mostly cloudy, with a low of around 52 degrees, forecasters said.
Interestingly, the same thing happened last year when an 80 percent chance of rain emerged in the local atmosphere. As we did last year, we suggest taking an umbrella handy to protect the kids from rain should they get caught in a rainstorm while they hunt for candy. Or, you could whip up a costume that incorporates an umbrella, such as the Morton's Salt girl or a rain cloud.
