SXSW: First Lady On Panel With Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, Diane Warren And Sophia Bush

The First Lady is scheduled to speak during a panel discussion on March 16 at the convention center.

AUSTIN, TX -- First Lady Michelle Obama will be joined by Missy Elliott, Diane Warren and Sophia Bush in a SXSW panel discussion Wednesday morning that will be moderated by Queen Latifah.

SXSW organizers provided those details late Monday. The arrival of the First Lady already had been previously announced.

“The powerhouse group of women bring their collective years of experience to the table for a dialogue on finding one’s passion, music and the importance of girls education everywhere,” organizers wrote on the official SXSW website.

“First Lady Michelle Obama’s keynote at SXSW Music brings the global music industry together and offers the perfect platform for the First Lady’s call to action to support girls’ education,” SXSW officials wrote.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Halle and Chloe Bailey, performing together since their cover of the song “Pretty Hurts” went viral in 2013. The pair of musicians are slated to be signed to Beyonce’s management company, Parkwood Entertainment.

The even is open to Music, Film, Gold and Platinum badges, along with Artist Wristbands on a first come, first served basis.

The First Lady’s March 16 talk is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Ballroom D of the Austin Convention Center.

President Barack Obama also recently made history as the first sitting president ever to participate in a SXSW event last week.

At the First Lady’s event, 80 area students will be given the opportunity to see her speak, assuming they filed their financial aid forms on time as part of a contest.
