Texas (2-3) vs Iowa State (1-5) Football: Everything You Need To Know

Kickoff time, TV, point spread, tickets, parking, traffic and more.

AUSTIN, TX -- A disappointing Texas season continued its downward spiral Saturday as the Longhorns fell to rival Oklahoma 45-40 in the Red River Shootout. The combined 85 points were the most scored in the history of the rivalry, which brings Longhorns fans little solace.

While Texas’ offense was impressive, the Longhorns’ defense, which has struggled all season, allowed Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield to throw for 390 yards and 3 touchdowns while receiver Dede Westbrook caught 10 passes for a school-record 232 yards and 3 touchdowns. The game was close throughout until Oklahoma scored early in the fourth quarter to take a 42-27 lead. Texas continued to battle back, but was never able to overtake the Sooners.

Longhorns quarterback Shane Buechele enjoyed a solid game, throwing for 245 yards and 3 touchdowns (with 1 interception) while running back D’Onta Foreman totaled 159 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Both figure to enjoy productive days against an Iowa State defense that has allowed 33.5 points per game this year. And while the Cyclones enter this matchup with an unimpressive 1-5 record, Iowa State has put up some fight lately, falling to its last two opponents (Oklahoma State and Baylor) by a combined 10 points.
