Texas Book Festival Celebrates Return Of Lit Crawl Austin
Annual night of irreverent literary programming to feature performances, games, trivia matches and storytelling sessions on Oct. 26.

AUSTIN, TX — Texas Book Festival organizers on Wednesday announced the return of Lit Crawl Austin later this month.
The Saturday, Oct. 26, event will start at 5 p.m. with a happy hour at Mohawk and running through several phases over the course of the evening, featuring some of the country’s most celebrated authors. For the first time ever, organizers added, the Crawl will take place in the Red River Cultural District.
Inspired by San Francisco's long-running Lit Crawl — and produced with their participation —the 2019 Lit Crawl Austin will feature events at Mohawk, Cheer Up Charlie’s, Seven Grand, the side bar, and Empire Control Room.

Highlights include an epic round of Literary Death Match at Cheer Up Charlie’s, featuring authors Kristen Arnett, Ryan Chapman, Angie Cruz, judges Andrea Lawlor, Mary Norris, and Dalia Azim, and host Adrian Todd Zuniga; an election-inspired town hall-style debate hosted by American Short Fiction with authors Kimberly King Parsons, Ivelisse Rodriguez, and Lara Prescott at Empire Control Room; poetry and readings structured by chance in Gulf Coast’s Reading Roulette, featuring Kayleb Rae Candrilli, Max Seifert, and more at Seven Grand; Noir at the Bar readings with crime fiction authors, including Steph Cha, Craig Johnson, and Alex Segura; and Lit Crawl Against Humanity hosted by Awst Press, with authors T Kira Madden, Kristen Roupenian, and more, and emceed by Andrew Hilbert.

A suggested donation of $10 will be taken at Cheer Up Charlie’s. Lit Crawl Austin is a project of the Texas Book Festival and the Litquake Foundation.

ABOUT TEXAS BOOK FESTIVAL
With a vision to inspire Texans of all ages to love reading, the Texas Book Festival connects authors and readers through experiences that celebrate the culture of literacy, ideas, and imagination. Founded in 1995 by former First Lady Laura Bush, Mary Margaret Farabee, and a group of volunteers, the nonprofit Texas Book Festival promotes the joys of reading and writing through its annual Festival Weekend, the Texas Teen Book Festival, the Reading Rock Stars Title I elementary school program, the Real Reads Title I middle and high school program, grants to Texas libraries, and year-round literary programming.
The Festival is held on the grounds of the Texas Capitol each fall and features more than 275 renowned authors, panels, book signings, cooking demonstrations, and children’s activities.
