In Texas, brisket is the most popular BBQ food. Given that the Texas brisket is it’s own individual recipe, we would expect nothing less. It’s also important to note that Texas is the only state in agreement that brisket is the best barbecue food. The other states simply don’t know what they’re missing out on.
Unless you want to have a meal of just meat for dinner (hey, we won’t judge), you’ll probably want something to go along with your authentic Texas brisket. According to America, you should go for watermelon.

In 18 of the 50 states, watermelon is the most popular barbecue food, and for that we definitely will judge. We’re not sure who thinks that a fruit is the best part of a barbecue, but hey, at least our local Texas citizens are on the right track.
Even though we wouldn’t rank it at the top of the menu, when it comes to fruit, watermelon is definitely an essential for the perfect barbecue. Bonus points if you perfectly grill and season your slices.
