Traffic Alert: Austin, WilCo I-35 Work To Create Delays

Drivers in Travis and Williamson counties are advised to expect delays as crews work on maintenance and construction along the key artery.

AUSTIN, TX — Drivers should expect delays this weekend along Interstate 35 in Williamson and Travis counties, as the Texas Department of Transportation temporarily closes the main lanes in various locations for construction and maintenance work.

Weather permitting, the following projects are scheduled this weekend:

I-35 Lower Deck

Southbound I-35 lower deck mainlanes closed

I-35 from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive

Northbound and southbound I-35 mainlanes closed between William Cannon Drive and Slaughter Lane

In Jarrell, on Sunday at 9 p.m., the northbound and southbound I-35 main lanes will be closed at Ronald Reagan Boulevard on alternating nights, as crews set beams for the new eastbound bridge. Traffic will detour to the frontage road and all lanes will reopen to traffic no later than 5 a.m. each morning.

In Austin, on Sunday at 9 p.m., the southbound I-35 lower deck mainlanes will be closed for maintenance work. Traffic will be diverted to the upper deck and frontage road. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m.

On Sunday at 11 p.m., the I-35 mainlanes will be closed in both directions between William Cannon Drive and Slaughter Lane to allow crews to remove an overhead sign bridge. Traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. (See attached map.)

Road signs have been placed to alert drivers of the upcoming closures. TxDOT asks the traveling public to be patient and remain aware when traveling through the work zone. To learn more about this project, visit My35Construction.org.
