Travis County Offices To Re-Open Wednesday But With Delay
A frigid wintry blast forced many places to close on Tuesday, but warming trend is prompting mass re-openings starting Wednesday.

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX — Travis County offices will re-open for business on Wednesday but with a delay after a frigid wintry blast prompted closures.
"Due to winter weather conditions, all Travis County offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018," county officials advised succinctly in a prepared statement, adding that 10 a.m. will be the hour of such re-opening.
School districts, municipalities and even some businesses opted to keep the doors locked amid winter conditions that made roads icily treacherous — in effect giving many a consecutive day off after Monday's observance of MLK Day.

But as a warming trend develops, roadways have been deemed to be safer for travel by Wednesday. As a result, many places that closed on Tuesday will be re-opened on Wednesday.
But not everything will resume on Wednesday. The Travis County Commissioners Court will re-convene on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9 a.m. after Old Man Winter took the area in his/its icy grip. We're not quite out of the frigid woods quite yet in spite of this supposed warming trend, and motorists should still exercise caution while driving on Wednesday. Keep a safe distance with the vehicle in front of you (some say three car lengths) and reduce your speed given the possibility of lingering ice on roads.
For the truly methodical and conscientious, there is the DriveTexas.org where motorists can check for road closures and other trouble areas to plan their trip accordingly.
