Two UT-Austin Students Robbed At Knife Point

Incident along 1900 block of San Antonio Street near Martin Luther King Boulevard was 1st of two incidents, the latter leading to suspects

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Two men now in custody are accused of robbing a pair of University of Texas at Austin students in separate incidents on Thursday night, campus officials said.

Austin Police Department officials responded to a report of a robbery involving two UT-Austin students at 9:20 p.m. along the 1900 block of San Antonio Street near Martin Luther King Boulevard, according to a campus advisory.

Ten minutes later, police responded to a second robbery call at San Antonio and 21st streets, police said. It was in that vicinity that police were able to locate the two suspects matching the victims' description, officials said.

Police said one of the students sustained a scratch from the knife used in the robbery, but did not require medical treatment. The suspects were not identified, save for describing them as black and Hispanic. As the investigation continues, police urge anyone with on the incidents to call detectives at 512-974-2000.
