Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) Texas love-triangle murder suspect pleads not guilty. Kaitlin Armstrong, the Austin woman accused of killing cyclist Anna Moriah Wilson in mid-May, pleaded not guilty in court on Wednesday. In addition to entering a plea of not guilty, Armstrong's attorneys asked for a speedy trial. After some back and forth with Armstrong's attorney, the judge set the docket call for this case for Oct. 19, with a jury trial the week after. KXAN has the full story here.

2) Tech giant Samsung is considering building 11 new chipmaking facilities in the Austin area. In what the Statesman refers to as "what could be the biggest economic investment in Central Texas history," Samsung is considering investing around $200 billion in new semiconductor plants in the Austin area. According to documents filed with the state, this decision could lead to $200 billion in new investment and create more than 10,000 jobs. The Austin-American Statesman has more on this breaking story here.

3) Uvalde superintendent recommends firing police Chief Pete Arredondo. At a school board meeting set for this Saturday, the Uvalde School Board will consider terminating Arredondo for his role in the flawed response to the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School. The district placed him on administrative leave roughly one month after the shooting. Check out the full story here at The Texas Tribune.

4) Austin remains under an 'excessive heat' warning. Yesterday marked the 40th day we've hit the 100s this summer. Most of Central Texas remains under a heat warning until 9 p.m. daily, and the rising temps show no sign of slowing down. FOX 7 Austin has more tips here for what to expect on the record-breaking temps and advice on how to stay cool.
