UT-Austin Student Reportedly Mugged By Transient
Woman told police a man threatened her with violence if she didn't give him money before she handed over debit card and alerted police.
AUSTIN, TX — A University of Texas at Austin student reportedly was robbed on Saturday afternoon after being approached by a man who threatened her with violence if she didn't give him money, campus police said.
According to an advisory by the UT police department, the student said a transient approached her along the 300 block of West 21st Street near Guadalupe Street at 2:20 p.m. demanding money. The woman told police she handed the man her debit card before running home to call police.
Police said the suspect later was located, and the Austin Police Department was investigating the off-campus incident. As police continue to investigate, officials urge anyone with information about the incident to call the APD at (512) 974-2000.
