Puerto Chavarria, 23, Killed in Highway 281 Crash (theunionstar.com) — A 23-year-old man from Dripping Springs was killed Friday evening when his speeding Hyundai crossed into oncoming traffic on U.S. 281 in Johnson City and collided head-on with a pickup. The crash, which followed an attempted DPS traffic stop, shut down the highway for hours and left two other drivers with minor injuries as investigators continue piecing together what happened. 
• Jackson Throws 5 Touchdowns in Rout of Charlotte (meangreensports.com) — A former Dripping Springs standout, junior receiver Kyle Koch, hauled in four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown as UNT’s offense exploded in a 50–10 home win over Charlotte. The Mean Green improved to 4–2 behind quarterback Tayven Jackson’s five touchdown passes and a stifling defense that held Charlotte without a red-zone trip.
