Hays County school districts speak on mandated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature use (haysfreepress.com) β New UIL rules now require Texas schools to use Wet Bulb Globe Temperature readings to protect students during outdoor practices, but Dripping Springs ISD has already been following these guidelines. Local districts, including DSISD, describe how they adjust practice times, use indoor facilities, and emphasize hydration and cooling zones to keep athletes and band members safe in extreme heat.

Len Brown, the kidlike creator of 'Mars Attacks,' dies at 84 (bostonglobe.com) β Longtime Topps creative director Len Brown, who helped create the cult-favorite "Mars Attacks" and "Garbage Pail Kids" cards, spent his retirement years in Dripping Springs hosting a country music radio show. The 84-year-old New York native and comics fan built a four-decade career shaping offbeat trading cards before settling near Austin, where locals may remember his voice from the airwaves.
