Dripping Springs council sends request back to P&Z (haysfreepress.com) — Dripping Springs City Council has sent a proposed zoning change for 200 Bluff Street back to the Planning & Zoning Commission for more review and public input. The owners of GLOW Med Spa hope to relocate into the historic former doctor's house, but questions about parking, future uses, and neighborhood impacts prompted council to seek tighter conditions first.
   

2. Assistant coach promoted to head of Dripping Springs Tiger baseball program (haysfreepress.com) — Dripping Springs High School has promoted longtime assistant and alumnus Stephen Szkotak to head coach of the Tiger baseball program. After helping lead the team to back-to-back state semifinal runs and multiple records, he now steps into the top role as former coach Chris Payne moves into an assistant athletic director position.
   

3. Hays County school districts speak on mandated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature use (haysfreepress.com) — New UIL rules now require Texas schools to use Wet Bulb Globe Temperature readings to protect students during outdoor practices, but Dripping Springs ISD has already been following these guidelines. Local districts, including DSISD, describe how they adjust practice times, use indoor facilities, and emphasize hydration and cooling zones to keep athletes and band members safe in extreme heat.
   

4. Len Brown, the kidlike creator of 'Mars Attacks,' dies at 84 (bostonglobe.com) — Longtime Topps creative director Len Brown, who helped create the cult-favorite "Mars Attacks" and "Garbage Pail Kids" cards, spent his retirement years in Dripping Springs hosting a country music radio show. The 84-year-old New York native and comics fan built a four-decade career shaping offbeat trading cards before settling near Austin, where locals may remember his voice from the airwaves.
