• May Sales Tax Receipts Up in All Three Brown County Cities (brownwoodnews.com) — Early’s sales tax check for May jumped more than 25% over last year, with year-to-date revenue up nearly 20%, signaling strong local spending. The Early Municipal Development District also saw similar double‑digit gains, while Brownwood and Bangs posted more modest increases. These funds support city services and future projects across Brown County.
   

• Commissioners Approve New Electricity Contract (brownwoodnews.com) — Brown County commissioners approved a new five‑year electricity contract with TXU Energy, locking in small yearly rate increases that will affect county facilities serving Early residents. They also okayed Memorial Day fireworks, paid for road surveying work on several county roads, and left the countywide burn ban off for now.
