Charges Filed After Early-Morning Deadly Wreck UPDATE

EAST AUSTIN, TX -- Police have filed charges related to a car accident Wednesday morning that left a woman dead.
Rene Martinez, 30, has been charged with DWI after police determined he caused the early morning accident at Tillery Street. Police responded to the scene after receiving a 2:30 a.m. 911 call.
Police found a victim at the scene who had apparently been thrown from the car upon impact. The female victim, believed to have been in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released.

Because she died, Martinez could be facing additional charges other than the Class B misdemeanor for DWI for the one-vehicle accident.
An APD spokesperson said Martinez could face charges ranging from failure to stop and render aid to intoxication manslaughter once police conclude their investigation.
