Democratic National Committee Opens Hillary Clinton Campaign Office In East Austin
The opening comes at a time when the gap is surprisingly close between both presidential candidates in a state that deeply Republican.

AUSTIN, TX -- The Democratic National Committee opened its Austin headquarters on Sunday.
The move comes amid a surprisingly narrowing gap (given the longtime deep-red status of the state) between Clinton and her GOP rival, Donald Trump, for the presidency. The office is located at 61 N. Interstate 35 at Holly Street, serving as the base for local organizing activity and house volunteers operating phone banks and organizing meetings, KXAN-TV reported.
Members of the public were invited to the opening in quintessentially Texas manner, with barbecue. The office also comes just days before Clinton running mate Tim Kaine makes his second visit to Austin on Sept. 23 to raise campaign money.

A Houston office for the Clinton campaign was opened last weekend. The Houston Chronicle reported that the gathered crowds there were enthusiastic, intermittently chanting the campaign motto "stronger together.”
The latest financial reports show the Clinton campaign committee has raised more than $13 million in Texas, while Trump’s campaign committee has raised just over $5 million in the state, KXAN reported.
