Police Make Four Arrest In Connection To String Of Burglaries In East Austin

Three juveniles and one adult have been charged in thefts that ranged from stolen vehicles to a poodle named Ernie.

EAST AUSTIN, TX — Four arrests have been made connected to a string of burglaries in the Preswyck Hills neighborhood in East Austin, police said Friday. The crimes suspects are accused of committing include the theft of a poodle that was located and returned to its owner earlier this week.

Police said those arrested in the East Austin thefts include an adult and three juveniles. The suspect are tied to six burglaries, including three auto thefts and multiple package thefts from front porches of homes in the neighborhood, KEYE reported.

The alleged burglary ring also is accused of having taken a poodle named Ernie from a couple's home. The beloved pet was recovered during a "suspicious vehicle" call earlier this week, police said. Other than Ernie the dog, police have recovered one of three stolen vehicles and unwrapped presents, the news station reported.

One of the juveniles faces a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after being caught driving a stolen car and his adult passenger was charged with criminal trespass, police said.

Austin detectives are continuing their investigation working alongside the Travis County Sheriff's Office, according to the news station.
