1. West Texas veterans awarded $1.7 million grant as some take part in Honor Flight (spectrumlocalnews.com) — Veterans groups serving the El Paso area are receiving a share of a new $1.7 million state grant to boost housing, transportation, counseling, and other support services for more than 1,800 local vets. At the same time, 32 Rio Grande Honor Flight participants, including several El Paso veterans, are in Washington, D.C., with the community invited to welcome them home at El Paso International Airport on Saturday afternoon.
   

2. September 25, 2026: Public Notices & Classifieds (bigbendsentinel.com) — Key regional water planning and solid waste grant meetings are coming up in El Paso, including a November 5 Region E water planning session at the Rio Grande Council of Governments and an October 22 solid waste grants review at the city's Environmental Services Department. Residents and local businesses can submit written comments on water planning, recycling projects, and a federal environmental review for a new Border Patrol station in Presidio, plus see local classifieds and a City of Presidio administrator job opening.
   

3. Judges give proposed EPE power plant for Meta data center support, with conditions (ktsm.com) — State administrative judges say El Paso Electric's proposed $551.8 million McCloud power plant for Meta's Northeast data center should only move forward if customers are shielded from its capital and operating costs. The recommendation follows objections from the city of El Paso and nearby residents, and now goes to the Public Utility Commission, which will decide whether the project and protections move ahead.
   

4. City crews address storm-related conditions (kvia.com) — Recent storms have left streets across El Paso with flooding, potholes, and debris, prompting more than 60 calls to the Fire Department and ongoing repair work by city crews. Residents are urged to report roadway issues to 311 and any drainage or stormwater problems to El Paso Water's dedicated phone line or online form so hazards can be addressed quickly.
   

5. Two men arrested for highway racing in El Paso (ktsm.com) — Two drivers were arrested after allegedly racing a Camaro and a Tesla at more than 60 mph in a 35 mph zone on Railroad Drive in Northeast El Paso. A police motorcycle officer reported hearing a loud muscle car, pursued both vehicles, and says the men admitted accelerating side by side, which he described as the definition of racing.
