• Former Fort Hood soldier sentenced for hacking, extortion (kxan.com) — A former Fort Hood soldier has been sentenced to nearly six years in federal prison for running an extensive hacking and extortion scheme while stationed on post, targeting telecom companies and sensitive customer data. Prosecutors say he and co-conspirators tried to extort at least $1 million, selling stolen information and even attempting to pass data to a foreign intelligence service, all while serving in uniform at Fort Hood.
