• The US Army Says the New M1E3 Abrams Will Be About 25 Percent Lighter Than Today's Tank and Burn About 50 Percent Less Fuel. It Has an Unmanned Turret, an Autoloader, and a Crew of 3 Instead of 4 — th (19fortyfive.com) — Soldiers at Fort Hood’s 1st Cavalry Division are set to receive four prototype M1E3 Abrams tanks later this year, years ahead of the original schedule. Local troops will test the lighter, more fuel-efficient, three-person tanks and give feedback before taking them to the National Training Center in California in 2027, helping shape America’s next-generation main battle tank.

The program, backed by up to $2.2 billion, aims to test compact, low-carbon reactors while addressing questions about cost, safety, and waste management that will shape any future deployment in Central Texas.
