The Deadline to Register to Vote in Special Election Is April 2

The City of Forth Worth is reminding residents that the deadline to register to vote for the May 2 election is on Thursday, April 2.

The city put out a news release about the deadline on Friday. Residents can visit the Texas Secretary of State's website for all election information.

To register to vote in Texas, residents must complete a voter registration application and return it to their county election office at least 30 days before the upcoming election date.

Election Day in the 2026 Special Called, Charter, and Bond Election in Denton, Parker, Tarrant, and Wise counties is Saturday, May 2.

The Tarrant, Denton, and Wise county ballots will feature a special election to decide the District 10 Fort Worth City Council member. Chris Jamieson and Alicia Ortiz are on the ballot in that race.

Here are the key dates to remember:

  • April 2: Last day to register to vote.
  • April 20: Last day to apply for ballot by mail.
  • April 20: Early voting begins.
  • April 28: Early voting ends.
  • May 2: Election Day
