Fort Worth Marks 120th Anniversary of Lake Como

The award-winning neighborhood is working on preservation efforts.

The City of Fort Worth is recognizing the 120th anniversary of Lake Como and its future as restoration efforts continue.

The city put out a blog post about the nationally recognized neighborhood on Friday. "As Lake Como community marked its 120th anniversary, its legacy is not only being celebrated," the blog states. "It is being restored."

The neighborhood was named after Lake Como in Italy, and its community reflects a spirit of pride that continues to shape its identity up to this day.

The blog notes community-driven efforts like the Juneteenth Parade and the preservation efforts focused on Lake Como Cemetery. "Lake Como honors its history while strengthening connections for the future," the blog states.

The city said it is proud to celebrate and support Lake Como and the national recognition it has garnered over the years. It won a Mayor's Community Engagement Neighborhood of the Year award two consecutive years, and later won the Neighborhood of the Year award at Neighborhoods USA multiple times.

"With this year's third consecutive Neighborhood of the Year win in Fort Worth, they will return to Neighborhoods USA in may, and our city will be right behind them, proud to support and celebrate the Lake Como community as they take the national stage once again," the blog states.
