Fort Worth Police Seeking Assistance in Financial Exploitation Case

The Fort Worth Police Department is seeking the community's help in an ongoing investigation involving financial exploitation against 24-year-old Cartaveion Demarcus Holmon.

The department released the call for help in a Thursday afternoon social media post. According to the post, the department wants help identifying potential victims in the case.

The post states that the investigation began as a stolen vehicle component recovery by the Tarrant Regional Auto Crimes Task force. It has since expanded into a broader case involving the suspected exploitation of elderly and vulnerable individuals.

Investigators believe Holmon may have used deceptive sales practices related to solar panel services and vehicle transactions, including placing vehicles in victims' names without their full knowledge or consent.

Anyone who has had contact with Holmon with regard to solar services, vehicle purchases, or financing arrangements and believes they are a victim should contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4414.

The Texas Penal Code defines exploitation of a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual as the illegal or improper use of the resources of the individual for monetary or personal benefit, profit, or gain. It is a third degree felony offense.

Additionally, the United States Department of the Treasury warns consumers that residential solar energy scams are more common since the industry expanded over the past decade. Residents report being deceived about costs, savings, loans, and tax credits, as well as pressured by aggressive sales and marketing tactics.
