Four North Texas Drone Teams Advance to Regional Championships After Fort Worth Competition

FORT WORTH, TX — As drone technology expands across logistics, aerospace, and public safety industries, Fort Worth-area students are already testing their skills in high-level aerial robotics competitions.

Four Harmony Public Schools North Texas drone teams are advancing to the 2026 South Central Aerial Drone Championships following strong performances at the recent “Mission Time Warp” competition hosted at Harmony School of Innovation-Fort Worth.

The Fort Worth event served as a qualifying competition, sending three middle school teams and one high school team to the regional championship level.

The South Central Aerial Drone High School Championship will be held April 7-8 at the Frisco Conference Center at Collin College in Frisco, Texas. High school competitors will face teams from across Texas as well as states including New Mexico and Oklahoma. The South Central Championships are the culminating events of the Aerial Drone Competition season. Over two days, teams compete in Mission 2026: Time Warp, demonstrating skills in teamwork collaboration, autonomous programming, piloting precision, engineering documentation, and formal interviews with certified judges. Awards are based on both flight performance and engineering documentation.

“This event is part of our ongoing effort to promote STEM education and provide students with engaging opportunities to apply their classroom learning to real-world scenarios,” said Adam Unlu, M.Ed., Harmony Public Schools North Texas STEM/GT district coordinator. “Drone competitions build technical, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that open doors for our students. These experiences can lead to future opportunities in engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and other technology-driven careers.”

The Aerial Drone Championship events are conducted in collaboration with the REC Foundation.
