Standoff With SWAT Leads To Arrest In Montrose

Man claims partner choked him during argument.

HOUSTON, TX -- A man was arrested Sunday night after a brief standoff with Houston SWAT officers in the Montrose area.

According to police, officers were called to the 2500 block of Park Street around 9:30 p.m.after a man reported being choked by his partner during an argument.

Police said the man’s partner broke out the window of their vehicle then ran and hid in an apartment.

Police said SWAT was called because they were not sure if the man’s partner was armed, and officers felt the situation was unsafe.

Police spent two hours negotiating with the man’s partner before he came out of the apartment and surrendered to police.

The suspect was taken to the hospital to be checked out for injuries, then taken to jail and charged with aggravated assault.

The suspect's name has not been released.
