Woman is Hit, Killed by Constable Patrol Car While Crossing West Houston Street

HOUSTON, TX -- A 43-year old woman who was crossing the street early Friday morning was hit by a Harris County Precinct 5 Constable's patrol car and died at the scene.

The accident happened at about 3 a.m. in the 12400 block of Westheimer Road and Dairy Ashford.

Investigators said that the woman was wearing dark clothing and that the deputy, who was on his way to one of the parks he patrols, did not see the woman until it was too late.

Investigators are reviewing dashcam video leading up to the accident.

The woman's identity has not been released.
