• Williamson County mosquito trap positive for West Nile virus (kxan.com) — Mosquitoes collected near Geneva Park in Georgetown have tested positive for West Nile virus, prompting county health officials to urge residents to step up prevention. Locals are advised to dump standing water, consider larvicides, use EPA-approved repellents, and wear protective clothing during peak mosquito hours to reduce the risk of infection.
   

• 8 arrested after online solicitation of a minor operation in Williamson County (fox7austin.com) — Four Georgetown residents are among eight people arrested in a Williamson County sting targeting adults accused of online solicitation of a minor. The sheriff’s office says the two-day June operation focused on protecting children from online predators and involved cooperation with state and federal law enforcement partners; the investigation remains ongoing.
   

• Tarini Bhoga joins Red Raiders' women's golf team (texastech.com) — A standout college golfer recently earned a state championship at Legacy Hills Golf Club here in Georgetown, where she captured the 2024 UIL Class 5A girls individual title with an 8-under total. That performance helped Frisco Centennial finish second as a team and propelled her to a transfer spot on Texas Tech’s women’s golf roster for the 2026–27 season.
