• North Texas police chiefs defend license plate readers, call for stronger rules (nbcdfw.com) — Grand Prairie's police chief is joining counterparts from Dallas, Fort Worth, Irving and Allen to defend the use of automated license plate readers while pushing for tougher safeguards against misuse. In a televised roundtable, they describe how the technology helps find stolen cars and missing people, but also back statewide standards, strict department policies and criminal penalties for officers who abuse the system.
