Air Force Awards $96.1M IDIQ to Three Firms for F-16 Engine Component Remanufacture (envzone.com) — A Grand Prairie aerospace facility has landed a share of a massive $96.1 million Air Force contract to overhaul key F-16 engine starter components, work that will continue through 2036. The long-term deal should help sustain skilled local jobs and keep the city tied into a major national defense program for years to come.
   

2. Woman Arrested After Irving Police Find Nearly 28 Grams of Meth Hidden in Her Bra (irvingweekly.com) — A 44-year-old Grand Prairie woman faces a first-degree felony charge after Irving police say she admitted to hiding about 28 grams of methamphetamine in her bra during a Sept. 16 traffic stop. Officers initially pulled her over for not wearing a seat belt, then recovered the drugs and later noted she has prior felony convictions, according to court records.
   

3. I-30 reopens after fiery police chase and crash (fox4news.com) — A high-speed police chase that began early Wednesday in Grand Prairie ended in a fiery crash on eastbound I-30 near Fielder Road, but no serious injuries were reported. Eastbound I-30 in Arlington has since reopened, and the fleeing driver was taken into custody while authorities continue investigating what started the pursuit.
   

4. WPF Ladies Weekend returns next month in 14 countries (poker.org) — Women poker players in Grand Prairie will have a local stop this year as WPF Ladies Weekend returns worldwide October 16–18, including an event at Palace Poker Grand Prairie. The women-only series aims to grow female participation with tournaments, bootcamps, and networking, giving local players a rare chance to join a coordinated international poker weekend close to home.
   

5. PlaceMKR buys $32M retail portfolio, expanding out of Texas (therealdeal.com) — A major retail real estate deal includes the At Home store on West I-20 in Grand Prairie, now part of a $31.9 million multistate portfolio acquired by Austin-based PlaceMKR. The company says the purchase price is far below current construction costs and may spur additional restaurant or retail development on adjacent land in the greater Dallas market.
