“I had really good teachers at the school, so I wanted to be that great teacher to the young students,” Solís said. "That's what I want to be in my community, a person they can trust and hopefully inspire them to do the same, maybe better, in the future."

This project, along with her participation in various community activities, made her an outstanding candidate to receive the Student Hero Award from the Texas Education Agency.

Solís started Insync by enlisting the help of volunteers to teach different classes to elementary and middle school students.

"We teach different subjects such as astronomy, Chinese, mentality, leadership, among others," said Solís. "I was able to get volunteers from the United States, Morocco and Canada."

This recognition was celebrated with a small event that was held in the Harlingen High South High School library. The event began with a statement from Harlingen South High School Principal Fernando Reyes.

“You have done what we all aspire to do,” Reyes told Solís. “And that is helping others in wonderful ways. The way you took on the responsibility of giving more to others, not following, but leading, that is what sets you apart ”.

The award was presented by the representative of the Board of Education, Ruben Cortez, who addressed the small socially estranged audience.

“Abbeny's passion and commitment to helping others in her community is impeccable, and she is a role model for Texas students and the nation,” said Cortez. "On behalf of the Board of Education, on behalf of District 2, I would like to congratulate Abbeny and wish her all the luck in the years to come."

In recognition of his work, Solís was presented with a plaque, a copy of the resolution signed by the Board of Education and, as an additional tribute, his name will be permanently displayed on a plaque at the Texas Education Agency in the building. William Travis.

“At Harlingen CISD we want to graduate students who do so much more for their fellow men and impact the world we live in,” said Superintendent Dr. Alicia Noyola. “Today we are lucky enough to be able to recognize one of those students. Abbeny, I thank you for everyone you have helped. I know there are other students in our school district and across the state who do selfless work for others, too, and we appreciate that. We ask all students to continue that work ”.

After high school, Solís plans to pursue a career as a human rights or immigration attorney.

"Even though I may not know what the future holds for me, I remain optimistic and determined to make an impact wherever I go," she said.
