• Company launches data center's $4B first phase near Harlingen (star-telegram.com) — A developer has begun the $4 billion first phase of a massive 1,100-acre data center project on Harlingen's northeastern outskirts, between the city and Rio Hondo. City commissioners must still decide whether to let Fluidstack discharge stormwater into a key canal, even as the company promises hundreds of permanent jobs, thousands of construction jobs, and millions in new tax revenue while limiting water and noise impacts.
   

• Inside Valley Politics: Data center debate rages from DC to the RGV (valleycentral.com) — Harlingen leaders are weighing whether to let a proposed data center near Rio Hondo tap into a key drainage outlet by the airport, and have delayed the decision until after a town hall with residents. The debate mirrors growing national and regional concerns over data centers' economic benefits versus infrastructure and environmental impacts, with Brownsville already moving toward a temporary moratorium.
   

• Nonprofit helps provide hearing aids to children in need (valleycentral.com) — A Harlingen-datelined report highlights how San Antonio nonprofit Aid The Silent is teaming up with Rio Grande Valley health providers to get hearing aids to local children whose families struggle with costs or insurance. Through recent evaluations in McAllen and support from donors and grants, more than 20 kids have already moved closer to receiving the hearing help they need.
