Greg Abbott used a stop in Hemphill to insist that proposed AI data centers in nearby Angelina County must generate their own power and help lower local utility costs before permits move forward. He also backed giving cities and counties more control over where such facilities locate and signaled new state rules to protect local water supplies ahead of the 2027 legislative session.
