• Judy Hays, 84 (koxe.com) — Hondo is remembered here as the birthplace and family home of Judy Ann Oefinger Hays, whose relatives still live in the community. The longtime Brownwood educator, devoted mother, and beloved “Skye” to her grandchildren died May 4 at age 84. Her family invites memorial gifts to education and hospice causes instead of flowers, with a celebration of life set for May 30 in Brownwood.
