Houston Lone Star Diaper Bank Donates 6,000 Diapers and 375 Baby Essentials to Launch We'll Be the Parent's First Single Moms Success Academy

The supplies support 15 single mothers in a six-week workforce program starting in October. Houstonians can help the diaper bank reach 10 times more families.

HOUSTON, Texas – September 30, 2026 – Houston Lone Star Diaper Bank (HLSDB) has donated a full pallet of baby essentials to We'll Be the Parent, Inc. for its inaugural Single Moms Success Academy. The gift includes:

•6,000 baby diapers

•60 swaddles

•15 sleep sacks

•15 stuffed plushies

•285 baby clothing items, including onesies, pants, hats and socks

The Single Moms Success Academy is We'll Be the Parent's six-week virtual workforce and empowerment program for single mothers. The inaugural cohort of 15 mothers begins in October and will receive hands-on training in digital skills, career readiness, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and tools such as Canva, along with employment resources and individualized support. Each mother is meant to leave with new skills, resources and a clear plan for moving forward. The donated diapers, swaddles and clothing go directly to the participating mothers and their babies.

Diaper need is one of the most common and least visible hardships facing Houston families. Nearly half of U.S. families struggle to afford enough diapers, according to the National Diaper Bank Network's 2026 Diaper Check survey. Diapers are not covered by SNAP or WIC, and a single baby can use 6 to 10 diapers a day. HLSDB sees that need firsthand: its September 2026 Diaper Distribution Day alone served 199 families with 9,200 diapers and 46,800 wipes.

How Houston can help

Every pack of diapers donated reaches a local family. HLSDB warmly invites the community to join this work. HLSDB has the capacity to give away 10 times what it does today; the only limit is funding for diapers. At current prices, about $99,000 a year would let the diaper bank serve roughly 1,350 Houston families every month.

• Give online: any amount at givebutter.com/HLSDB. Just $25 provides 125 diapers, about two weeks of clean diapers for one baby.

• Donate goods: new, unopened diapers (sizes 4–6 are most needed), wipes, baby clothes and swaddles. Contact diaperneed@lonestardiaperbank.org to arrange drop-off.

• Host a drive: businesses, churches, schools and teams can run a diaper drive; HLSDB will supply flyers and pickup.

• Volunteer: help at upcoming distributions on Oct 27 and Nov 17.
