Family Identifies Houston Area Teen Killed In Satanic Ritual
Police believe three teenage girls were held for weeks by alleged MS-13 gang members

HOUSTON, TX -- The body of a teenager discovered shot to death on a southwest Houston street last month, has been positively identified by her family.
Genesis Cornejo, 15, disappeared from her home in Jersey Village and hadn’t been seen by her family since Jan. 19.
Police initially thought Cornejo ran away to her home state of New York, but then a body discovered on Feb. 16 in the 9900 block of Sharpcrest Drive, sparked an investigation into her identity that eventually led to the arrest of two MS-13 gang members.

Miguel Angel Alvarez-Flores, 22, and Diego Alexander Hernandez-Rivera, 18, are charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count of murder. Both men claim to be members of the MS-13 criminal gang.
Cornejo's mother heard from her daughter’s friends that she was being held against her will, and lit candles in her absence hoping she’d return home safe.

On Feb. 27, police arrested Miguel Angel Alvarez-Flores, 22, and Diego Alexander Hernandez-Rivera, 18, who both claim to be members of the infamous MS-13 gang from El Salvador.
At the time of their arrest, the men allegedly confessed their involvement in the kidnappings and the murder of Genesis Cornejo to investigators.
However, defense attorney Emily Detoto, who is representing Hernandez-Rivera, said during a news conference Friday that she hasn’t seen a confession yet, and declined to validate that one exists until she sees the evidence.
The two men made their first court appearance on Wednesday and details of the satanic rituals, kidnappings, repeated sexual assaults, the revelation of a third juvenile victim who is now home safe with her family, and murder began to emerge.
On Thursday, Cornejo’s mother met with police and confirmed the worst -- that the body of the girl found in February was her missing daughter.
Investigators said the girls who came into contact with these young men are all very impressionable, who were lured and taken advantage of by hardened adult gang members.
