Good Samaritan Helps Passengers Off Flooded Houston METRO Bus

Man, whose car was also stranded by flood waters, carried people to safe area and checked on others who were stuck.

HOUSTON, TX -- Passengers on a Houston METRO bus that stalled in flood waters Wednesday morning are giving credit to a good samaritan who stopped to offer help.

At the height of the flooding , the METRO bus carrying two passengers was navigating through the waters at West Belfort and Interstate 69 in southwest Houston when it suddenly stalled.

Passengers were shocked when water began filling the inside of the bus, to the point that passengers had to climb onto the back of their seats and hold onto the handrails.

The driver and two passengers on the bus were taken by surprise when the bus stalled and the water rose quickly, but they were even more surprised when a good samaritan known only as Carlos, showed up to help.

“He came right to the window,” Victor, a passenger on the bus, told KPRC. “He carried me on his head, right out of the bus, and took me through the water and dropped me off at the other side of the McDonald's.”

Carlos’ vehicle had also become trapped by flood waters at the same intersection, but when he saw the people on the bus, he acted.

“I see the people in the bus so, I don’t know, maybe they don’t know what they have to do,” recalled Carlos. “I say, 'c’mon, get out cause the bus is down' you know.”

Carlos also took the time to check on the occupants of a van,a truck and another car that also become trapped.
