Harris County Investigators Interviewing Suspects In 4-Year Old Girls Murder

Ava Castillo was killed, and her mother and sister were shot when three men robbed them at gunpoint on Nov. 14.

HOUSTON, TX -- Police have arrested two men who they believe are
connected to the shooting death of a 4-year old girl during an armed
robbery on Nov. 14.

Ava Castillo was killed, and her sister, Betsida Castillo, 10, and
mother Diana Gomez, 27, were shot as they unloaded groceries at their
Greenspoint apartment complex.

Investigators have not said how the two people in custody are related to the child's death, according to a KPRC report.

Gomez was unloading groceries from her car in the 10000 block of Greens Crossing Blvd. at 9 p.m. on Nov. 14, when three men in dark clothing walked over to her and demanded her purse.

Gomez never had time to react when one of the men pulled a gun out and began shooting at them.

Gomez was shot seven times, while Betsida was grazed and only slightly injured.

However, Ava, who was in her mother's arms, was mortally wounded, and died.

Meanwhile, police are questioning the suspects in the case, and
believe that at least one of them was involved in a separate murder
investigation.

On Nov. 15, a day after the shooting, police detained a person of
interest they believed was involved in the killing, but he was later
released.

So far, no one has been charged.
