HCC Campus Closed After Receiving Social Media Threats

Final exams at Houston Community College that were scheduled for Monday, will be taken on Friday after the campus received a shooting threat

HOUSTON, TX — Students who attend the Houston Community College Central Campus weren’t in class on Monday to take their final exams, and they won’t be there Tuesday.

That’s because the college received a threat over the weekend that a shooting would occur at the campus, prompting the college to make adjustments to the final exam schedule and close down.

Campus officials said Monday that the campus would remain closed through Tuesday.

HCC posted the information on their website on Sunday, which said that a threat had been made, and final exams would be rescheduled for Friday, May 11.

“HCC takes all matters with implications for the security of its students, faculty and staff seriously. HCC and its police department are actively working with other law enforcement agencies to identify the source of the threat in an effort to eliminate the risk of harm,” The college said on its website.
