Houston company sends help for hospitals in path of hurricane
US Med-Equip shipped truckloads of medical equipment to Florida to support hospitals in the path of Hurricane Michael
Hurricane Michael is expected to be a monster of a hurricane. As the Florida panhandle braced for Michael’s impact, employees at one Houston business stepped up to help hospitals in the storm’s path before it strikes. US Med-Equip sent baby incubators, baby warmers, breathing ventilators, medical monitors and other life support equipment to help hospitals in Florida prepare for the hurricane’s devastation.
“The goal is to take care of those hospitals, especially in times like these, so they can focus on what they do best—taking care of their patients who are in the healing process or in need of comfort,” Chief Development Officer for US Med-Equip Greg Salario said.
Crews from US Med-Equip on Tuesday loaded up trucks and left for the overnight drive to Orlando, Florida. From the US Med-Equip regional office in Orlando, the medical equipment will be delivered to Florida hospitals as needed.
When a storm strikes, the influx of families and others with medical needs puts a strain on hospitals’ resources. US Med-Equip, headquartered in Houston, is at the ready to help hospitals prepare and respond at a moment’s notice, including during disasters such as hurricanes, officials said. The company partners with top hospitals across the nation to provide the highest quality movable medical equipment for patients in their care.
